Public Works Department

Public Works keeps Fosston moving. Our team maintains the systems residents rely on every day—city streets; water, sewer, and stormwater services; electrical and natural gas distribution; cable service; and municipal garbage and refuse collection.

In addition to completing major improvements like the Wastewater Pretreatment Facility and community-wide natural gas expansion, our crews take pride in the daily work that keeps Fosston safe, functional, and welcoming.

Natural Gas Safety

Natural gas is tasteless, clear, and odorless. For safety, an odor is added so you can tell if there may be a leak in your home.

If you ever smell a gas-type odor, call the local natural gas utility immediately at 218-435-1737. This number is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
