The Fosston Community Library and Arts Center (FCLAC) is a cultural focal point for the area, offering cultural opportunities through library services and the arts to enrich the lives of all area residents. It includes the following facilities:
Fosston Library is a branch of Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL). Its mission is to link people and communities to resources and experiences for learning and enrichment.
Fosston Library offers homebound delivery services and year-round programming for all ages, including preschool storytime, family events, computer classes, reading programs, author visits and more!
The Fosston Community Arts Center is governed by a non-profit board of directors representing Fosston Community Library & Arts Association (FCLAA).
Sorenson Gallery & Multi-use Space Sorenson Gallery features the works of local and regional artists. Exhibits are changed every two to three months and have displayed everything from photography and oil painting, to sculpture and textile art. In addition, student art is periodically displayed in the upper gallery, located in the theatre foyer. The galleries were designed as multi-purpose areas. With the fully- equipped kitchenette, the space is perfect for art classes, writing workshops, cooking demonstrations or a variety of other meetings/gatherings. Groups may reserve the space for a small fee, with preference given to arts and non-profit organizations.
The Fosston Community Library and Arts Center Theatre The FCLAC theatre seats 150+ and has one of the busiest stages in the region. Performances include community and school plays and musicals, instrumental and vocal recitals, as well as other theatrical and musical events.
Music Instruction & Rehearsal Rooms: The FCLAA is pleased to offer music lessons, both instrumental and voice, through the cooperation of independent music teachers. Instruction is available for the following:
Piano
Guitar
Violin/Fiddle
Mandolin, Viola & Cello
Percussion
Voice
Recording Studio Construction of the FCLAA recording studio was completed in 2011. The Mac-based studio utilizes Pro-Tools software, enabling musicians, singers, or orators to make digital audio recordings of their performances. In addition, it provides students with the opportunity to learn about music production and the recording arts.
