Mayor
It has been another great year for the City of Fosston.
Many new improvements have been made to our community. The day of this writing the new Palubickis's Family Market and Spirits store opens. At 43,000 square feet, I am told it is the largest independently owned grocery store in the state. The new NAPA store along highway 2 opened. The car wash has been upgraded to state of the art. Our schools underwent major facility improvements. We have new hockey boards for the rink. Upgrades to our infrastructure continue with new water mains along 2nd Street NW, Newton Avenue and the alley behind TheoRose on Main has been upgraded. Our Cable TV system underwent an upgrade and it is now fully digital with numerous channels added. Our Veteran's Memorial Park continues to see improvements.
Industry is thriving as well as employment. Consolidated Equipment Group (CEG) the manufacturer of Erskine Attachments now employs over 100. Food product manufacturing continues to grow at Minnesota Dehydrated Vegetables, Specialty Products & Technology and J Rettenmaier USA Company. Polk County Solid Waste Management plans include the expansion of tipping floor and resource recovery facility in Fosston.
Plans for this year are for a new warming house at the hockey/skating rink. The electric utility has plans for upgrades in the underground power cable in 2017. Our Veteran's Park Wall of Heroes will receive its first life size bronze statue, a WWII Army paratrooper, thanks to a generous private donation.
Things are only getting started. Growth spurs more growth. Great things are to come for Fosston as it continues to be one of the greatest places to live and work.
